Lightning Conductor

On 7th November 2024, Paul and Simon were at the church (drinking coffee and watching) whilst Ryan and Ryan from the Bacon Group upgraded the lightning conductor to meet latest standards. It meant a new metal conductor into the ground from the top of the tower which is about 100 feet (and 100 steps) up.

Will it fit under the Lynchgate?

Originally the plan was to have abseilers come and install the cable against the tower side but in the end a very complicated, remote controlled (every small boy’s dream) and impressive cherry picker came to allow access to the side. As you can see it only just fitted …

Only just fitted

And no, neither of us went up the cherry picker not even a little bit.

A few other photos. It’s a long way up …
